Daybreak at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge

This shot is only available to be artistically captured two (2) days per year where the sunrise occurs perfectly centered between the two bridge spans.  I had to perform detailed solar rise calculations to identify the ideal date for a perfectly centered sunrise. This image was captured October 28, 2021.  This required a 9 minute drone flight out and back and was taken approximately 2 miles off of the Western shoreline.  There was no room for error in lens filter selection and the drone force landed itself, due to low battery, approximately 10 feet from the water's edge, barely saving the drone and this shot.  This drone has not flown since capturing this image.  The total bridge span is over 5 miles long.  The drone had approximately 4 minutes of time to achieve perfect positioning, adjust for lighting, and capture all images.  This shot was taken approximately 15 seconds before the sun broke the horizon.  The next opportunity to try to recapture was April 2022, which had 30+ knot winds and driving rain making it impossible to replicate this image any day since October 28, 2021.
