"Preparing to be Blessed" was captured by aerial photographer Steve Brower during the Blessing of the Fleet before the start of the 2023 Deal Island Skipjack Races. Set upon the harbor at Deal Island, nine of the eleven participating skipjacks make berth as the anticipation mounts for another successful skipjack race honoring the fleet that is all too quickly disappearing. This image preserves that small piece of history.
